Caitlin & John, an adventurous couple fell in love with Tamarindo for their beach wedding destination. In 2013 John and Caitlin backpacked for 3 months through Central America, but weren’t able to spend that much time in Costa Rica as they would’ve liked to , and were always eager to return. When they would talk about wedding plans, they always knew they wanted to have a destination wedding. Caitlin being from Canada and John from Australia, they both knew they had to find a halfway point for both families to arrive and vacation at the same time. ” When we mentioned Costa Rica as a possible wedding destination, our families were all super excited on the idea as they had never been, and John and I had always wanted to go back, so that was that!”
How did they meet?!: Caitlin is from Vancouver, Canada and John is from Melbourne, Australia. Independently, they had both always dreamed of doing a ski season – spending 6 months in a ski resort snowboarding everyday, lots of partying and a little bit of work. Caitlin grew up snowboarding her whole life, and so naturally when she finally made the move up to Whistler, she fell in love with the lifestyle. Doing a ski season in Whistler is a very popular thing for Aussies, and so John made the move to Whistler as well, planning on staying for 6 months… They met each other the first day they both moved to Whistler in 2011 through Caitlin’s housemate, whom John had met while traveling in Europe. They became friends instantly, and now 6 years later they got married, still living in Whistler, proud owners of Blenz Whistler Coffee Town and cannot get enough of the vibe of the town!
Caitlin & John are very casual, low key people who would much rather spend their money on traveling and experiences than things, which is the same vibe they went with when planning their wedding day. They chose Tamarindo because it is a lively town with lots to do, as they wanted all of their family to be able to entertain themselves, and there is something to please everyone there! The group went surfing everyday, they went out for some amazing meals, went to the casino, shopping, and of course spent endless hours at The Sunset House pool. They found Sunset House Villa online, and everything about it was perfect for them. The location so close to Tamarindo, the open air layout that they could all spend quality family time together in, yet the privacy each bedroom provided. Hugo the chef cooked some of the best food they had on their trip including their wedding reception dinner. This is one place they’re sure to revisit sometime soon!
John and Caitlin decided they would rather go on a family moon as they don’t get the chance to spend very much time with their parents, so after the wedding, the group began their “Family Moon”. They travelled to La Fortuna and enjoyed the many hot springs and sky walks, then headed towards Monteverde for ziplining and night walks, and finished their vacation in Santa Teresa with just their parents while their siblings went on to travel other countries in Central America. They spent a week surfing, riding ATV’s and relaxing in Santa Teresa. By the end of the 3 week “Family Moon”, they were so excited to return to Whistler as a married couple and begin their new adventure as owners of Blenz Whistler Coffee Town!
Caitlin mentioned: “Everything about our wedding in Tamarindo was perfect. You, Sylvia, truly made our day. You went above and beyond for us, as we didn’t really have a clue what we were doing without a wedding planner or celebrant. You were the only experienced person there and really took charge with when to begin the wedding, where each person should stand, how to get down to the beach for photos and exactly where to go. I am so glad I listened to my mother and paid for an amazing photographer. We have 2 giant canvases on our wall from your images and I love them more and more each time i look at them. ” This couldn’t make me any more happier as a wedding photographer!!! Thank you Caitlin & John, you were truly a one of a kind couple, I wish you all the best and more!

Miranda & Daniel’s beachfront destination wedding at Langosta Beach was one of my last weddings of the season, and one I truly cherish, I enjoyed it so much! This couple had it all, the best personalities, all smiles and such a wonderful chemistry, as you’ll see in the pictures below. Daniel’s family lived in Costa Rica for many years, so when the time came to plan their wedding, there was really no doubt that they were going to have the destination wedding experience back in Costa Rica, a place that Daniel and his family proudly call home too. Langosta Beach is one of the most popular beaches here in Costa Rica for weddings, besides being absolutely beautiful, it’s a popular surf beach, the sun sets in the unobstructed horizon, and it’s walking distance to Tamarindo Beach, one of Costa Rica’s top beach towns; home to great restaurants, bars, shops and night life! So, when planning your wedding in this area, you can rest assured you and your guests will have the time of your life! Other beaches close to this area are: Conchal , Avellanas, Negra, Junquillal, Flamingo , Marbella…. What do these have in common? Great surf!!!
When planning a destination wedding, many couples want the best, and this includes finding a beachfront destination wedding venue. Langosta beach Club is by far one my my top wedding venues in the area. Other closeby beachfront venues which I absolutely LOVE are Pangas & Pacifico Beach Club … In this instance, Miranda & Daniel chose Langosta Beach Club to celebrate their wedding day, and stayed at El Esplendor Hotel, just minutes apart. This was my first time visiting El Esplendor, and all I can say is WOW!!!! AMAZING! The view of this hotel, along with its architecture are something worth visiting during your stay in Tamarindo Beach.
This tropical wedding was made possible by a great team of wedding vendors: impeccable planning by the best 419 Weddings, hair & makeup by Famous Points Beauty Salon , flowers by Stylos & Flores, cake by Victoria Zoch & venue: the always amazing Langosta Beach Club .

Erika and Brandon eloped at the Hyatt Andaz located at Peninsula de Papagayo, one of the most beautiful areas in our country, Costa Rica. This luxury hotel is as good as it gets. The architecture is to die for , as you can see in these photos. Erika and Brandon being architecture lovers, opted to get married under this amazing open-air area, overlooking Bahia Culebra (Snake’s Bay) …. The cocoon shaped roofs, combined with the lush forest made for the most romantic setting for their ceremony. Afterwards , we enjoyed the Andaz’ gardens, shooting away while getting to know Erika and Brandon a little bit more, between stories and laughs. One of the top moments was when a family of howler monkeys came to visit us up close, they were very loud!!! One of them even got down from the trees and went walking past us, minding his own business. I’m sure this is something Erika and Brandon will remember forever!!!! It was priceless!!!

I get emotional at every wedding I shoot, always. But watching Gwen’s son walk her down the aisle gave me extra goosebumps… well, all their wedding day was THAT special. Nature even gave us this amazing stage to work with at the end

Well… We just had a rain-filled wedding weekend. Rain and thunder threatened us during Georgina & Jordan’s wedding session, we had to quickly run for cover, seriously, the rain was strong!!!! While I was drying up my gear praying for the storm to pass, this was my view. I explained the concept I had in mind to Georgina and Jordan and of course, being the sweetest and trusting couple that they are, they agreed to it. They ran under the rain towards the horizon and started working their magic. Thank you guys for trusting me with this, I’m so happy you didn’t let rain stop us from enjoying our session!!!

Some of the things that I really love about elopements is the time I get to spend alone with the couple. This allows us to enjoy the session with absolutely no rush; we talk, laugh, get to know each other and of course shoot away! Joan and James: I really appreciate the vibes and input you brought into your session, it was so inspiring to work with you two. Thank you!
