Who says you only get to wear your wedding clothes once?

After their wedding, Jessica and Matt decided to do something a little different. They brought their wedding attire to Llanos de Cortés Waterfall in Bagaces, Guanacaste, for a trash the dress photography session, and we absolutely loved the idea!!!

One of the things we enjoy most about photographing weddings in Costa Rica is that the possibilities don't end with the wedding day. There are beautiful beaches, tropical forests, waterfalls and so many incredible places to explore.

And sometimes, putting your wedding clothes back on for one more adventure is exactly the way to celebrate.

A Little More Fun, a Little Less Wedding Timeline

What we love about a trash the dress session is how different it feels from photographing a wedding.

There's no ceremony to get to, no guests waiting for family photographs, and no reception schedule to follow. We have the freedom to enjoy the location, try something different, and create photographs that might not have been possible on the wedding day itself.

For Jessica and Matt, that meant trading the traditional wedding setting for a waterfall surrounded by nature.

And that's one of the best parts of an after-wedding session. You can be a little more adventurous without worrying about keeping your wedding clothes perfectly clean for the ceremony.

Why We Love Llanos de Cortés Waterfall

Llanos de Cortés is one of our favorite natural settings to consider for this kind of session in Guanacaste.

Located near Bagaces, the waterfall is surrounded by tropical vegetation, with water cascading over a broad rock face into a natural, calm pool below.

It's such a beautiful contrast to the coastal landscapes that most people associate with Guanacaste weddings.

We particularly enjoy visiting before the rainy season begins, when conditions can be more favorable for planning a photography session around the waterfall.

Of course, the location changes throughout the year. Water flow, weather, and access can vary, and during the rainy season the waterfall can become much more powerful. For that reason, we always consider the conditions before planning photographs near the water.

But when everything comes together, it's a wonderful place for couples who want something a little different.

One More Adventure After the Wedding

There's something lovely about having another opportunity to put on your wedding clothes, especially when there's no wedding-day schedule to think about.

A trash the dress session can be playful, romantic, adventurous, or even a little bit of everything. It really depends on the couple and what they want to experience.

Jessica and Matt chose a beautiful Costa Rica waterfall for theirs, and we loved being part of it.

For couples planning a destination wedding in Guanacaste, an after-wedding session is also an opportunity to explore another part of Costa Rica and create photographs that feel completely different from their wedding gallery.

And we think that's a pretty wonderful reason to wear your wedding clothes one more time.
